The Run for Women, a Penn State Behrend Women's Engagement Council event, gives women the rare opportunity to be the front runners and cross the finish line first.
Approximately 1,200 students attended Penn State Behrend’s Welcome Week concert, which featured the rapper Waka Flocka Flame and DJ Climax. The concert was free for Behrend students.
Penn State Behrend's STARS rating supports several of the U.N.'s Sustainable Development Goals, including the goals for Quality Education; Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions; and Partnerships for the Goals.
Sherri "Sam" Mason is the director of sustainability at Penn State Behrend. "We all have a role in sustainability," she said. "It's the domain of every school at this college, and every person who works and learns here."
Penn State Behrend has earned a silver rating from STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System. The designation, which is valid for three years, is a measure of the college’s work toward environmental, social and economic sustainability.
The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance. Penn State Behrend was the first college in the Penn State system to complete a STARS assessment in 2020 earning a Bronze level. In 2023 we completed our second tri-annual assessment, improving to a Silver level.
Diali Cissokho and Kaira Ba will perform a blend of music from West Africa and the American South in the 2023-24 Rhythms of Life Series at Penn State Behrend.
