Senior Taylor Sweeney, a Stand for State student ambassador, organized stickers Jan. 14 that will be shipped to campuses in preparation for the launch of Stand for State. University Park’s launch is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, in the HUB-Robeson Center.

An old stack of National Geographics, with their full-color, fold-out maps, led Leigh-Ann Bedal to Petra, the ancient city buried in the Jordanian desert.

“I would study them,” says Bedal, now an associate professor of anthropology at Penn State Behrend. “I would imagine what life in those places was like.”

Discovering history through excavation of ancient landmarks is what inspires Leigh-Ann Bedal, a professor at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. These discoveries help uncover a greater understanding of the past.
