1. GRADUATING SENIORS
If they complete all course requirements, Political Science majors Ken Zambrzycki and Autumn Groves are scheduled to graduate this month. We extend best wishes to all graduating seniors and with their plans for the future!
2. PROGRAM REVIEW SURVEYS
The Political Science program is undergoing a program review during this academic year, as required for all Penn State academic programs. There will be surveys emailed to alumni and to current students in January. Watch for those next month.
3. FACULTY AND ADVISERS IN THE NEWS
Dr. Zachary Irwin, Associate Professor Emeritus of Political Science, participated in two panels at the 52nd Convention of the Association of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the Copley Marriott in Boston on November 20, 2023. He discussed the theme of "morality in the Yugoslav Civil War in the work of Sabrina P. Ramet" in a roundtable devoted to Ramet's work and chaired a panel on "Hungary under Orban.”
Attorney Brian Krowicki has been hired to teach CRIMJ/SOC 13 next semester on Juvenile Delinquency. Brian Krowicki is a juvenile court prosecutor who prosecutes juveniles accused of crimes in Erie County. He is an Erie County native and joined the Erie County District Attorney’s Office in 2006, after five years of experience working as a prosecutor in Allegheny County. He is a graduate of the University of Dayton, where he obtained his undergraduate degree, and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
Attorney Melissa Hayes Shirey, Behrend Pre-Law Advisor, has been appointed as the senior deputy attorney general with the Bureau of Consumer Protection of the Public Protection Division of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General in the Erie Regional Office, effective January 21, 2025. She will continue working as a pre-law adviser at Penn State Behrend.
