Event introduces Penn State Behrend faculty to supercomputing-powered research

Institute for Computational and Data Sciences hosts open house on high-performance computing

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS) will host an informational open house focused on how Penn State Behrend researchers can leverage the power of supercomputing. The event will be held in room 236 in Burke Center on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The open house will offer Penn State Behrend researchers a chance to meet with ICDS experts and find out more about how the institute can help connect them with computational resources to power their research. ICDS brings together researchers from across the academic spectrum whose work involves high-performance computing, data intensive computation and methodologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The session will include information about supercomputing hardware and support resources available through ICDS and review considerations necessary for incorporating supercomputing and big data in research. ICDS experts also will lead a question-and-answer session.

The presentation and question-and-answer sessions will start on the hour.
