Old Main's bell — its chimes long replaced by modern technology — was removed and restored as a gift of Penn State’s class of 2009, and is now displayed outdoors at ground level near Old Main’s southwest corner.
A $50,000 gift from Patricia S. Yahn and her son, Greg Yahn, will improve and expand the annual student art show at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. The gift will provide new incentives to artists and additional opportunities for students who want to work behind the scenes.
Criminal investigations often begin away from the crime scene, in a curtained hospital room, where nurses treat and counsel the victims of violent crime or abuse.
“When victims need medical attention, they are brought to nurses first,” said Amy LeSuer, a lecturer in nursing at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. “We help them before law enforcement officials can.”
Penn State Behrend’s 2016 Faculty Awards were presented this month during the college’s first Faculty Senate meeting of the semester.
Jason Bennett, associate professor of chemistry, received the Council of Fellows Faculty Research Award, which recognizes faculty members who, in the opinion of their peers, truly fill the role of inspired, dedicated researchers.
