Penn State Bookstores awards second round of Barnes and Noble grants

The Penn State Bookstores, managed by Barnes and Noble, has awarded its second round of grants to support a range of programs and initiatives across the University. As previously announced, the bookstores launched the new grant program through a five-year, $1.25 million commitment to the University.

As part of the Bridge Design session, middle school students who attended GE Girls @ Penn State Behrend were tasked with building trusses and ultimately assembling a bridge. Here is a look at the finished product.

Taylor Morris graduated from Penn State Behrend with a degree in psychology this past May. The Bradford, Pennsylvania, native was recognized this spring with the Ralph Dorn Hetzel Memorial Award and the Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker Award.

COIL at Penn State announces grant recipients

The Center for Online Innovation in Learning at Penn State has announced it will fund four new projects through its Research Initiation Grant Program. The goal of the COIL grant program is to provide seed money for Penn State researchers to gather preliminary evidence to pursue external funding for larger studies that enhance teaching and learning through online innovation.

New engine design powers Behrend Supermileage vehicle to 2,418 mpg

Powered by a new engine, Penn State Behrend’s Society of Automotive Engineers club team vehicle finished second in this year’s International Supermileage Challenge, held June 8-9 at the Eaton Corporation’s Marshall Proving Grounds test track. The vehicle traveled 2,418 miles on one gallon of gas.
