Carol Putman, associate teaching professor in management at Penn State Behrend, and Liz Agler, academic adviser in the College of Arts and Architecture, have been selected to receive the 2024 Penn State Excellence in Advising Award.

Samiha Choudhury, a senior majoring in political science at Penn State Behrend, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Ralph Dorn Hetzel Memorial Award. Named for Penn State’s 10th president, the Hetzel Award recognizes a combination of high scholastic attainment together with good citizenship and participation and leadership in student activities.
Grace Mumo, a junior majoring in elementary and early childhood education at Penn State Behrend, is the recipient of the 2024 Jackson Lethbridge Tolerance Award. The award recognizes a junior, senior or graduate student for outstanding efforts to enhance the understanding of diverse cultures and create a community where all individuals are accepted and valued equally.
“Unissued Diplomas,” a new display at Penn State Behrend’s John M. Lilley Library, highlights the hopes, dreams and unmet goals of college-age Ukrainians who have died in the war.
The annual STEAM Fair at Penn State Behrend featured more than 100 hands-on activity stations, where area youth experimented with robots, bottle rockets, plasma balls and other technology.
The Penn State Behrend women’s water polo team opened the Collegiate Water Polo Association Regional Tournament with a win over Wheaton. Marley Persch, a junior from Hudsonville, Michigan, scored her 100th career goal.
