ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend men’s swimming and diving team won the first 12 events in a nonconference meet at Washington & Jefferson College on Jan. 13. The Lions won the top three spots in three different races.
The college’s basketball and wrestling teams also were in action last week. Here are the highlights:
Men’s basketball
Penn State Behrend 67, Penn State Altoona 66
Penn State Behrend 71, Hilbert 60
Dan Wanker, a junior from Pittsburgh, scored a career-high 20 points against Hilbert. Justin Gorny, a junior from South Park, and Malike Brinson, a junior from Erie, each added 18 points.
Women’s basketball
Penn State Behrend 81, Penn State Altoona 66
Hilbert 69, Penn State Behrend 60
Emily Kinecki, a junior from Erie, scored a career-high 24 points against Penn State Altoona. She also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Men’s swimming and diving
Penn State Behrend 168, Washington & Jefferson 61
Mark Patterson, a junior from North Huntingdon, won the 100- and 200-meter backstroke events. Noah Babik, a sophomore from Penn Township, won the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke races. Each also swam a leg of the 200-meter medley relay, which the Lions won.
Women’s swimming and diving
Washington & Jefferson 139, Penn State Behrend 108
Gwendolyn Lowery, a senior from Bellefonte, won the 200-meter butterfly and the 200-meter individual medley. She finished second in the 100-meter butterfly.
Men’s wrestling
Zachary Ishman, a senior from Youngsville, won by pin at the Mt. Union Invitational. He wrestles in the 174-pound weight class. Sam Svetz, a freshman from North East, won a match in the 157-pound class.
