Football Coach James Franklin to Visit Penn State Behrend May 22

Penn State football coach James Franklin will visit Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, on the final stop of a 17-event Coaches Caravan this spring. He will meet with alumni and fans during an evening reception on Thursday, May 22.

Penn State football coach James FranklinFranklin was named the 16th coach of the Nittany Lions on Jan. 11. He was selected for the position after leading Vanderbilt University to unprecedented football success, including consecutive 9-win seasons and two bowl victories.

“Our staff is so appreciative of the tremendous welcome from Nittany Nation,” Franklin said. “The pride and passion for Penn State, the football program and all our teams are very obvious.”

Franklin will be joined by other coaches of Penn State’s 31 varsity teams at each stop of the Coaches Caravan, which begins May 1 in State College. They will visit Penn State York, Penn State Fayette, the Pennsylvania College of Technology and Franklin’s alma mater, East Stroudsburg University. The tour also will stop at alumni strongholds in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

The Penn State Coaches Caravan is sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club. At each stop, Franklin will meet with alumni and fans and talk about his core values for the football program and his preparations for the 2014 season.
