M.B.A. Student Finishes Fifth in Americas Region on Bloomberg Aptitude Test

M.B.A. student Brian Seelinger finished fifth in the Americas region for February's version of the BAT.Brian Seelinger, an M.B.A. student at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, was among the top five scorers in the Americas region for the February 2014 version of the Bloomberg Aptitude Test (BAT).

Seelinger’s score of 690 was tied for fifth in the Americas region, which includes both North American and South American countries.

The BAT is a two-hour test that consists of 100 multiple-choice questions designed to assess aptitude for business and finance. Each month between 5,000 and 7,000 people in the Americas region take the test. There has never been a perfect score on the BAT, which offers a possible 800 points.

Seelinger graduated from the Sam and Irene Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend in May 2013 with a bachelor of science degree in finance.

“Certainly, this would not have happened without the finance program,” said Seelinger, who is scheduled to graduate in May 2015 with his M.B.A. “Most of the concepts on the Bloomberg exam were not new or foreign for me. It’s good to have your knowledge and skills validated by an external, neutral third party.”

Test takers’ scores are entered anonymously into the Bloomberg Talent Search Database. The database is available to more than 20,000 top firms, and allows employers to contact a test-taker for an internship or full-time position. Seelinger has already received résumé requests from multiple companies.

The Erie native was Behrend’s top scorer on the ETS® Major Field Test for the Bachelor's Degree in Business during his senior year. Seelinger will also be taking the level 2 CFA Exam in June. He received a scholarship from the CFA Society of Pittsburgh for study materials for the exam, which was provided by Kaplan Schweser.
