Behrend sports teams continue to notch fall wins

ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend’s fall sports teams continue to post wins. The college’s soccer, golf, volleyball, tennis, water polo and cross-country teams all were in action last week. Here are the highlights.

Men’s soccer

Penn State Behrend 1, Mount Aloysius 0 (OT)

Penn State Behrend 1, D’Youville 0

Richard Blanchard, a freshman from Erie, scored in the 97th minute against Mount Aloysius. The Lions allowed just three shots during the game.

Women’s soccer

Penn State Behrend 3, Mount Aloysius 0

Penn State Behrend 6, D’Youville 0

Jordan Oberlander, a senior from Waterford, scored all three goals against Mount Aloysius. She is now ranked fourth in the NCAA in total goals, with 17.

Men’s golf

Second (of four teams) at the ECAC championships

Ninth (of 13 teams) at the Mercyhurst Invitational

Sean Sculley shot a 147 and placed third at the ECAC championships, which were held at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, New York. Ryan Matlock, a senior from Erie, was fourth, with a 149.

Women’s volleyball

Penn State Altoona 3, Penn State Behrend 2

Penn State Behrend 3, Wilkes 1

Pitt-Bradford 3, Penn State Behrend 0

Rachel Frye, a senior from Leechburg, hit .429 against Altoona. She had 17 kills and two errors on 35 attempts.

Men’s cross-country

Sixth (of 18 teams) at the Geneseo Invitational

Dylan Buffington, a senior from Brookville, placed 19th at the Mike Woods Cross Country Invitational at Geneseo. He finished in 25:37.7.

Women’s cross-country

Seventh (of 15 teams) at the Geneseo Invitational

Riley Crissman, a sophomore from Bradford, finished 30th at the Mike Woods Cross Coutnry Invitational at Geneseo. She ran the 5K in 23:34.9.

Women’s tennis

Penn State Behrend 5, Pitt-Greensburg 4

Franciscan 9, Penn State Behrnd 0

Vanessa Galatic, a freshman from Pittsburgh, won at No. 6 singles to lift the Lions over Pitt-Greensburg. She won 6-2, 6-0.

Men’s water polo

Mercyhurst 18, Penn State Behrend 6

Gannon 16, Penn State Behrend 6

Penn State Behrend 11, Mount San Antonio 8

Andre Sardaryzadeh, a sophomore from Murrieta, California, scored four goals and added an assist in the win against Mount San Antonio.
