A total of 215 seventh-and eighth-grade girls from 32 school districts attended Math Options Career Day, held May 7 at Penn State Behrend. The daylong program, now in its 23rd year, is designed to introduce young girls to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics — fields that generally are dominated by men.
Erie Insurance has partnered with Penn State Behrend to create scholarships for first-year students and funding for upper-level students to work with local businesses and non-profits. Industry 4.0 will be the topic of discussion at “The Advanced Manufacturing Forum 2017: Industry 4.0.” The forum, co-sponsored by the School of Engineering and the Black School of Business at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, will be held Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier, Erie.
