Frequently Asked Questions
How does a Degree in 3 accelerated program work?
If you’re following an accelerated, three-year pathway to your degree, you’ll take 18 credits in each of the fall and spring semesters for three academic years.
You’ll supplement that coursework with 12 additional credits, earned through summer coursework, internships, Dual Credit Enrollment, AP Credit, or Credit by Examination.
If you already have earned some college credits, you’re even closer to completing your bachelor’s degree early!
What are the benefits of an accelerated degree?
A three-year path to an undergraduate degree has some advantages over the typical four-year degree plan.
- Start your career: You can get started sooner on your post-bachelor’s plans, whether that is entering the job market or attending grad school.
- Save money: A three-year degree means you’ll pay one less year of tuition, housing, and related education costs.
- Stay motivated: The faster, streamlined path can keep you engaged and focused on your goal of graduating.
Is an accelerated program right for me?
Behrend’s three-year degree programs are ideal for students who are:
- Focused: You should have a strong sense of your major or career goals, since the abbreviated timeline allows less time for academic exploration.
- Fast-paced: You should be prepared to follow a fast-paced, structured schedule in order to complete your required coursework.
- Self-disciplined: To be successful, you should have a strong sense of time management, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to staying on track.
- Prepared: If you have transfer, AP, dual-enrollment, or International Baccalaureate credits, you might be especially well-positioned for success in a three-year degree program.
- Ready: If you’re eager to launch your career or enter graduate school, an accelerated degree can get you to your goals more quickly.
