Artificial intelligence (AI) opportunities far outweigh the challenges for use at universities, according to Penn State Executive Vice President and Provost Justin Schwartz. He led a panel discussion on AI and its implications for higher education at the Board of Trustees’ Committee on Academic Affairs, Research and Student Life meeting on Oct. 19.
Trinity Prestash, a junior from Philipsburg, scored four goals in the women’s soccer game against Carlow. Penn State Behrend won the game, 7-0. The Lions are now 11-4-1 and are undefeated in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action.
"Robotics and automation make manufacturers more competitive," said Yohannes Haile, an assistant teaching professor of management and industrial engineering at Penn State Behrend.
The new $1.2 million Prischak Robotics and Automation Lab at Penn State Behrend is equipped with industry-grade collaborative robots, sensors, vision systems and manufacturing control systems.
The annual Harambee Dinner at Penn State Behrend included a community meal, Afro-Brazilian music and dance and a keynote talk by Jonathan Medina, whose “Dream Bigger” initiative has supported students at more than 1,000 universities.
Nearly 1,200 students attended Penn State Behrend's fall Career and Internship Fair. Many had their choice of full-time, part-time, co-op and internship positions.
