The Penn State Behrend men’s tennis team split a double-header with Penn State Altoona on April 14. Both teams were named co-champions of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season.
Jenna Seigworth, a senior at Penn State Behrend, has been distinguished with the 2024 John Roe Sustainability Impact Award for her outstanding leadership in sustainability efforts. Seigworth's deep-seated commitment to a greener, more equitable world has positively impacted both the Penn State Behrend community and the surrounding Erie area.
KYOCERA AVX has started construction of a 49,000-square-foot manufacturing and design center in Penn State Behrend’s Knowledge Park. The facility will annually produce more than 1.2 million high-precision crystal oscillators for use in aerospace, military, autonomous vehicle and commercial drone applications.
Penn State Behrend has been awarded $2.5 million in federal funding to develop a battery-testing facility in the college’s Knowledge Park, where a planned Center for Manufacturing Competitiveness will support the transition to battery-powered heavy-haul equipment in the rail, marine and mining industries.
The Penn State Behrend men’s tennis team won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship on April 21, defeating Penn State Altoona, 5-4. The win earned Behrend its third consecutive championship.
The Penn State Behrend softball team won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular-season championship with a sweep of Pitt-Greensburg on April 28. The Lions will host the AMCC tournament, which begins May 9.
Penn State Behrend recognized more than 150 students for excellence in scholastic achievement and engagement at the college’s 75th Honors and Awards Convocation, which was held in McGarvey Commons.
Oleksiy Goncharenko, a member of Ukraine’s parliament, visited Penn State Behrend on April 24 for a talk as a guest of the Public Policy Initiative. He discussed the war in Ukraine, the need for U.S. military support and the future of NATO.
HanBin Lee, a 2014 graduate of Penn State Behrend, was recently honored as one of 11 Penn State Alumni Achievement Award recipients. He is the first Korean person to receive the honor, which recognizes alumni 35 years of age and younger.
