Two Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Positions

The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at Penn State Behrend invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor Positions starting fall 2019. We are seeking applicants with a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and research scholarship. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Software Engineering, or other Computer Science related fields, with the ability to teach our core Software Engineering and Computer Science courses. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for higher rank, commensurate with experience. Preferred research areas and teaching interests include, but are not limited to software architecture, software testing, agile development, cyber security, real time operating systems, distributed database systems, and distributed computing. Candidates with relevant industry experiences or prior teaching experience are preferred.

Non-Tenure Track Computer Science Faculty Position

The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at Penn State Behrend invites applicants for a non-tenure track position starting fall 2019. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and an interest in teaching undergraduate courses in both resident and online modes. Candidates with experience in developing and delivering online courses and potential for leadership in the online space are especially encouraged to apply. A minimum of a master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. and/or prior teaching experience are preferred. Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Positions

Tenure Track Computer Engineering Faculty Position

Penn State Behrend invites applicants for an Electrical and Computer Engineering tenure-track faculty position starting fall 2019 at the rank of Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate education and to establishing a successful program of research scholarship. A Ph.D. in computer or electrical engineering or a closely related field is required. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for higher rank, commensurate with experience. Candidates from across all areas of Computer Engineering research (e.g., computer systems and architecture, reconfigurable and distributed computing, wireless networks and data communication, big data science and engineering, mobile computing, image and video processing, cyber physical systems (CPS), computer vision, machine learning) are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should be able to teach a wide variety of computer engineering courses (e.g., computer architecture, microprocessors, embedded systems, wireless networks, and operating systems). Preferred candidates will be able to teach courses that overlap with electrical engineering (e.g., digital signal processing (DSP), signals and systems, communication systems).

Mechanical Engineering Technology Faculty Positions

Non-Tenure Track Faculty Position

Penn State Behrend invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department beginning fall 2019. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Teaching assignments will be made in the areas of manufacturing processes, engineering graphics with solid modeling, and mechanical technology computer applications. A practical background in automation, production design, machine tool practices, and DFM/DFA is desired. The ideal candidate will be able to teach knowledge of CNC and conventional machine tools; and basic skills of their operation. This is a one-year, fixed-term position eligible for renewal and the salary is competitive. Preferred qualifications include a master’s or Ph.D. degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or closely related discipline, registration as a professional engineer, prior college-level teaching experience, and five or more of years industrial experience.

Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Faculty Positions

Two (2) Non Tenure Track Faculty Positions

Applicants are invited for two non-tenure track faculty positions starting fall 2019. We seek enthusiastic and dynamic faculty members in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in the area(s) of design, machine dynamics, system dynamics, machine design, manufacturing, and material science. Successful candidates will demonstrate the following abilities: to innovate and adopt various teaching methods in the classroom; to develop and teach labs; and to involve and guide undergraduate students in applied research and senior design projects. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline and prior teaching and research experience are strongly preferred and will be considered for the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor; exceptional candidates with a Master of Science will also be considered at the rank of Lecturer. Members of groups traditionally underrepresented in engineering faculties are encouraged to apply. Salary is competitive.

Tenure Track Faculty Position

Penn State Behrend, invites applicants for a Mechanical Engineering tenure-track faculty position starting in fall 2019 at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants with expertise in design is preferred. Applicants in areas of machine dynamics, machine design, manufacturing, and material are also welcome. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for higher rank, commensurate with experience. Candidates should be committed to excellence in undergraduate education, an active research program, and service to the university. Applied research and collaboration with local industry are highly valued as part of Penn State Behrend’s Open Lab initiative. Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate courses (preferably capstone design courses)and guide senior design projects in the area of design. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to work in a collaborative environment and a research program that integrates undergraduate student experiences. Candidates with prior teaching and/or industrial experience are valued. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, is required. Plastics Engineering Technology Faculty Positions

Tenure-Track Faculty Position

Penn State Behrend invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Plastics Engineering Technology starting fall 2019. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for higher rank, commensurate with experience. Candidates should be committed to undergraduate education and participating in industry and government sponsored research. The position will be responsible for teaching courses in plastics mold rheology, mold design, and plastic part design. Experience with plastics process simulation, plastics processing (such as injection, extrusion, or blow molding), materials characterization, and thermal analysis techniques are desirable. A Ph.D. in plastics, polymer, mechanical, materials, chemical engineering, or related field is required and a minimum of two years of industry experience is preferred.
