Scholarship Luncheon recognizes recipients, donors

Penn State Behrend’s 13th Endowed Scholarship Luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 5, filled the Junker Center with students, parents, and philanthropists.

“As you look around, remember that each student here today represents a Penn State Behrend scholarship, one that was generously created by individuals or foundations who want to partner with parents to help Behrend students obtain an affordable, high-quality education,” Chancellor Don Birx told the gathering of 630 prior to announcing scholarship awards totaling $2 million.

The luncheon, part of the college’s annual Parents & Families Weekend celebration, is an opportunity for students to meet and thank scholarship donors in person. Donors are seated with their scholars and are able to learn first-hand how their generosity impacts these students and their families.

At this year's event, videos were shown to highlight scholarships in four categories: Leadership and Opportunity, Trustee, Academic Excellence, and Corporate and Community. In these videos, students, donors and school leaders talk about how scholarships contribute to student success at Behrend.
