ERIE, Pa. — Becky Hammon is no stranger to the underdog role. After being undrafted by the WNBA, she went on to be named one of the league’s Top 15 Players of All-Time.
She continues to thrive as an underdog today, becoming the first woman to coach full time in the NBA. She is an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs.
Hammon will discuss her career journey on Wednesday, Sept. 13, when she visits Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, as part of its Speaker Series. Her presentation — “ASSIST: The Keys To Successful Leadership & Teamwork” — begins at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Junker Center. The program is free and open to the public.
In addition to an outstanding collegiate and professional career, Hammon has played on two Olympic teams. During her presentation, she will discuss how effective team-building, nurturing a ‘can-do’ attitude, and the power of strong support systems have helped lay the foundation for her success.
Hammon’s appearance at Penn State Behrend is made possible by the college’s Student Activity Fee, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Harriet Behrend Ninow Memorial Lecture Series Fund. For additional information, contact the Office of Student Activities at 814-898-6171.
