ERIE, Pa. — Few rising comics boast a résumé as impressive as Michael Che. The “Saturday Night Live” cast member has been named one of Rolling Stone’s “50 Funniest People,” Buzzfeed's "50 Hottest Men in Comedy" and Variety’s “Top 10 Comics To Watch.”
Comedy is Che’s craft, and on Friday, March 22, you’ll get to see it in action when he brings his standup routine to Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Public tickets, which cost $20, will be available beginning Feb. 18.
Che, a co-head writer of “Saturday Night Live” also serves as the co-anchor for the show’s iconic “Weekend Update” segment. Prior to joining SNL, he was part of “The Best F*&#ing News Team Ever!” as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s Emmy & Peabody Award-winning program “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”
Che has performed stand-up on NBC's “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and on CBS's “Late Show with David Letterman.” In 2016, he released his first hour-long stand-up special, “Michael Che Matters,” on Netflix.
More recently, Che hosted the 70th annual primetime EMMY Awards on NBC. He has also appeared in Chris Rock’s film “Top Five,” Comedy Central's hit series @midnight and as a weekly cast member on Vh1’s “Best Week Ever.”
Che’s standup performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Junker Center. Penn State Behrend student tickets cost just $10 and will be available Feb. 5.
