Richard Vann, an assistant professor of marketing at Penn State Behrend, is the lead author of “When consumers struggle: Action crisis and its effects on problematic goal pursuit,” published early online in the journal Psychology & Marketing. The research in the article focuses on understanding how goal-derailing obstacles can impact a person's ability to achieve his or her goal.

Behrend to host summer Telescopic Observing Nights

This summer, four planets — Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars — will be visible after sunset. To commemorate the occasion, the School of Science at Penn State Behrend invites guests to visit the college for three special Telescopic Observing Nights.

Middle school girls program Lego robots during GE Girls camp

A total of 50 seventh- and eighth-grade female students attended GE Girls @ Penn State Behrend in late June. The program — one of just 20 in the world — is a weeklong science, technology, engineering and math camp where attendees are paired with female mentors from GE Transportation.

The "Escape Room” was one of more than 100 courses offered as part of Penn State Behrend's College for Kids, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. It also happens to be the largest year yet for the program; nearly 1,400 children between the ages of 6 and 14 are participating.

Nearly 30 young people were enrolled in the Young People's Chorus (YPC) of Erie Camp, which was held in late June as one of more than 100 courses offered this summer as part of College for Kids at Penn State Behrend. This was the first time YPC Erie offered a course through College for Kids.
