Guidelines

Established in 2021, the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is presented to an alumnus/alumna of Penn State Behrend who has made significant contributions and achievements in their chosen profession, their community, and to Penn State Behrend, in turn enhancing the prestige of the college. The Behrend Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is given to an alumnus who has risen to high levels of success and meets one or more of the following criteria: demonstrates leadership in their profession, is active in community affairs, and/or has made a significant contribution to the betterment of society, social values, or justice. Nominations are solicited annually from Behrend faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends and awarded by the Penn State Behrend Alumni Society.

Criteria

Nominees must have attended Penn State Behrend for two semesters and graduated from any Penn State campus. Nominees should demonstrate significant contributions and achievements in their chosen profession, their community, and to Penn State Behrend. Successful nominees will likely have received recognition for their achievements from other professional or community organizations. Their accomplishments should stand out as enhancing the prestige of the college. Nominees should have a record of professional achievements that are widely recognized for their quality and significance. Ineligible: Current Alumni Society Board members.

Nominations

Nominations are solicited from faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and friends.

Selection Committee

The selection committee includes faculty, staff, and members of the Alumni Society Board. The Penn State Behrend Chancellor, Behrend Alumni Society President, Behrend Alumni Society Awards Committee Chair, and Director of Alumni Relations will always have a seat on the committee.

Timeline

Nominations are due by March 31. The award is presented to the recipient in a ceremony during the annual Parents, Families, and Alumni Weekend.
