The Penn State Behrend women’s basketball team completed a regular-season sweep of Penn State Altoona with an 88-56 win on Feb. 11. The team travels to Alfred State on Feb. 15. Behrend’s volleyball, track and field, tennis, bowling and wrestling teams also were in action last week.
Five Penn State Behrend seniors will represent the college at this year’s THON, the 46-hour dance marathon that benefits Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.

Five months before contractors hung the siding on Penn State Behrend’s new Erie hall, they tested strips of it on an architectural mockup — a 10-foot-tall model that was built to test the colors and fit of the materials that had been selected.
The Penn State Behrend swimming and diving teams defeated Wells in a dual meet at the Junker Center on Feb. 4. The men’s team won 14 of the 16 events. The women’s team finished first, second and third in five of the 15 events.

The Penn State Behrend Speaker Series will continue Feb. 13 with a program featuring the actor and writer Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard on the Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso.” His TV work also has included roles on “Community,” “Key and Peele,” “Parks and Recreation” and “How I Met Your Mother.”
Penn State Behrend wrestler Kyle Trim won three bouts at the Jamestown Community College Open and another at home against St. John Fisher. Trim, a heavyweight, has nine wins by fall this season.
A new series of on-campus and online events will offer prospective graduate students information about Penn State Behrend’s five master’s degree programs, which include courses in Erie and at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Township.
Penn State Behrend has partnered with the Corry Higher Education Council to offer new certificate courses in basic email, Microsoft Word, LinkedIn, and job-search and networking platforms. A $44,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry is funding the initiative.
