William M. “Bill” Hilbert Sr., a longtime friend and supporter of Penn State Behrend, died Nov. 3 in Erie. He and his wife, Martha, endowed scholarships at the college and supported the Young People's Chorus of Erie.
More than 160 girls from nearly 30 high schools attended Women in Engineering Day, a youth outreach program at Penn State Behrend that is designed to introduce high school girls to engineering fields and careers through a series of hands-on activities. This year marked the 14th year for the event, which was held Friday, Nov. 1.
21st Century Kids was held Thursday, Oct. 24, at Penn State Behrend. The program brings youth from rural populations to the college, allowing them to experience a college setting and participate in hands-on STEM workshops taught by Penn State Behrend faculty members and leaders from local STEM-focused businesses.
