Harvard University professor Avi Loeb discussed the search for alien life during a Speaker Series program at Penn State Behrend. "It is likely that we have not yet encountered extraterrestrial life because we are not significant enough for them to want or need to talk to us," he said. "We are like ants to them, maybe, and they are looking for something else."

Behrend soccer team dominates Alfred State

The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team scored 11 goals against Alfred State. Bella Sestito, a freshman from Jefferson Hills, and Cassidy Ulanowicz, a junior from Gibsonia, each recorded three goals. The college’s volleyball, tennis, swimming, bowling and water polo teams also were in action last week. Here are the highlights.

Behrend volleyball team wins 5-set match against La Roche

The Penn State Behrend women’s volleyball team won a five-set match against La Roche to remain undefeated in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play. The third set of the match included nine ties and three lead changes. The college’s soccer, cross-country, swimming and water polo teams also were in action last week. Here are the highlights.

Avi Loeb will discuss the search for extraterrestrial life on Friday, Nov. 1, when he visits Penn State Behrend as part of the college’s 2019-20 Speaker Series. His talk, which is presented in partnership with the Jefferson Educational Society and its Global Summit Lecture Series, begins at 7:30 p.m. in McGarvey Commons, in the college’s Reed Union Building.
