Penn State Behrend’s cross-country teams placed second at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championships. Zachary Tingley led the men with a fourth-place overall finish; Riley Crissman finished third overall in the women’s field.
The Pennsylvania Sea Grant College Program has received the 2018 John C. Oliver III Environmental Leadership Award, which is presented annually by the Tom Ridge Environmental Center Foundation. Ridge, a former Pennsylvania governor and the first secretary of Homeland Security, spoke at the Oct. 12 awards presentation.
The Brown-Urioste-Canellakis Trio will bring its smooth, classical music sounds to Penn State Behrend on Thursday, Nov. 8, when they perform as part of Music at Noon: The Logan Series. The performance takes place at noon in McGarvey Commons, in the college’s Reed Union Building. Admission is free, and reserved parking for audience members will be available in the Reed lot.
Ihab Ragai, an assistant professor of engineering at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has been named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Just 2 percent of the society’s 140,000 professional members earn the distinction.
With a 1-0 win over Mt. Aloysius, the Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team clinched the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular-season title.
Astronaut Mike Fincke will discuss his experience with NASA at an Open House Night in Astronomy at Penn State Behrend on Thursday, Nov. 1. His presentation, “Space Exploration: the International Space Station, the Moon and Beyond,” will begin at 7 p.m. in room 180 of the Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center, 5101 Jordan Road.
This past summer, Behrend student Sean Wither interned with Delaware North, a global food service and hospitality company that supports several of the country’s professional sports teams. Wither was stationed at Target Field in Minneapolis, home of Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins.
Penn State Behrend’s fifth annual Faculty, Staff, and Alumni Art Show will open Nov. 5 with a “Meet the Artists” reception from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Lilley Library gallery.
Sophomore Matt Olimski scored with just two seconds left in the game to lead the Penn State Behrend men’s water polo team past Washington and Jefferson, 12-11. The win earned the Lions a third-place finish at the Collegiate Water Polo Association's Division III Eastern championships.
