In honor of the 50th anniversary of the holiday, Penn State Behrend has created the Sustainability Series, a new, yearlong series of events, which will culminate with the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, 2020.
Patricia Yahn traveled the world, carrying her sketch pad and camera onto the Concord, the Queen Mary and the Orient Express. Yahn, who died Aug. 28, also was a mentor to young artists at Penn State Behrend, which staged a retrospective of her work in 2017.
Doug Ramspeck will read examples of his own ‘micro stories’ along with his poetry on Thursday, Sept. 26, when he visits Penn State Behrend as part of the college’s Creative Writers Reading Series. His 6 p.m. reading and the reception preceding it are free and open to the public.
The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team scored nine goals over two games at the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament. The team will face St. Vincent on Sept. 6. The college’s cross-country, golf and volleyball teams also were in action last week. Here are the highlights.
This fall’s scholarly communications and copyright workshop slate will include in-person workshops at Penn State Behrend, Penn State Scranton and Penn State Harrisburg, as well as a full set of Zoom workshops, including our popular trainings on complying with public access policies from federal agencies. There are specialized workshops for thesis and dissertation writers, instructional designers and scholarly authors.
Penn State Behrend will serve as the academic research and commercialization partner for the new Magee-Womens Research Institute in Erie, a $26 million initiative that will bring locally-focused clinical medical research to the region.
Penn State students who commute to campus or live in on-campus apartments have a convenient option for grabbing a meal or a snack: the Commuter Meal Plan. The plan, which is charged to the student account, has recently been expanded to three levels and is now offered at additional Penn State locations.
Darren Williams, professor of astronomy and astrophysics at Penn State Behrend, will discuss the science behind black holes on Sept. 5 when Open House Night in Astronomy returns to Penn State Behrend.
The Young People’s Chorus of Erie, a youth outreach program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend, will hold open rehearsals next month for its 2019-20 season. Open rehearsals give young people between the ages of 7 and 18 the opportunity to attend a rehearsal, meet the staff and learn about YPC Erie.
