A Year-Round Program of Learning and Mentoring
The mission of the Black School of Business is to empower students to learn by doing, adapting, and reinventing business by providing them with high-quality undergraduate- and graduate-level educational experiences with an applied orientation. The Executive in Residence program furthers this mission by inviting executives at the cutting edge of business to share their experience and expertise with students and faculty.
Appointed by the Director of the Black School of Business to renewable one-year terms, executives in residence bring enthusiasm and industry perspective to the classroom environment, research projects, and learning-by-doing opportunities. Building relationships with business leaders can lead to career opportunities for students, including summer internships and full-time positions. While the Black School hosts numerous business practitioners as visiting lecturers and conference participants each year, Executives in Residence maintain long-term relationships with the school.
The activities of the Executives in Residence include:
- Speaking engagements
- Guest lectures
- Workshops in major-specific areas
- Career advising
- Participation in advisory boards
- Competition judging
- Sponsorship of class projects
- Mentoring
- Assist students and faculty members with networking
