The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ordered the state legislature to draw new congressional districts by Feb. 9. That could upend the balance of power both in Harrisburg and in Washington, D.C., says Robert Speel, associate professor of political science at Penn State Behrend.
The Pitch is a two-part competition where participants from different universities work with an advertising agency to deliver a real-world proposal to a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization. Penn State Behrend student Jacqueline DuMont won the competition last semester and will now receive public recognition at the Pittsburgh ADDY Awards in March, and her résumé will be distributed to the Pittsburgh Advertising Federation’s Board of Directors.

Penn State students, faculty and staff are invited to compete for $100,000 in funding during the Nittany AI Challenge. The challenge, sponsored by the Penn State EdTech Network, will give participating teams the opportunity to explore artificial intelligence in higher education to improve the student experience at Penn State, solve real-world problems at the University, and generate startup ideas. The deadline for idea submissions is Jan. 29.

The Penn State Behrend men’s swimming and diving team won the first 12 events in a non-conference meet at Washington and Jefferson on Jan. 13. The Lions won the top three spots in three different races.
The Penn State Behrend men’s basketball team is undefeated in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play. The team's defense has held opponents to just 57.6 points per game — the lowest in NCAA Division III.
