McClennen, Pflueger named recipients of 2016 Kopp International Achievement Awar

Sophia A. McClennen, professor of international affairs and comparative literature in the School of International Affairs, and Ruth Pflueger, director of the Learning Resource Center at Penn State Erie, are recipients of the 2016 W. LaMarr Kopp International Achievement Award. Established in 1995, the award recognizes faculty and staff members who have contributed significantly to the advancement of the international mission of the University.

A Penn State Behrend teaching assistant who works with international students has been awarded the 2016 LaMarr Kopp International Achievement Award. The University-wide honor recognizes undergraduate students who have contributed significantly to the advancement of the international mission of Penn State.

Student Investment Team Reaches CFA Regional Finals

A student investment team from Penn State Behrend’s Black School of Business reached the regional finals of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute’s Research Challenge in Chicago on April 13, topping teams from nearly 1,000 other schools.

The team was knocked out of the competition by the University of Waterloo, in Ontario.

Research Conference to Showcase Student Work

Students from 11 colleges and universities will present their research at the 25th annual Penn State Behrend-Sigma Xi Undergraduate Student Research and Creative Accomplishment Conference on Saturday, April 16. More than 240 students will explain projects that advance a wide range of topics, including:

“For most of my life, I was the youngest person doing whatever I was doing,” he said during an April 8 campaign stop in Erie Hall. “Then, one day, just like that, I was the oldest one in the room.”

NOAA Awards Sea Grant College Status to Penn State.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Sea Grant College Program have awarded Sea Grant College status to Penn State based on the strength of Pennsylvania Sea Grant, a research and outreach program operated by Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. The designation reflects a sustained commitment to managing marine and coastal resources across the Commonwealth, including the Lake Erie, Delaware River and Susquehanna River watersheds.
