To celebrate Pi Day early, members of Penn State Behrend's Math Club handed out pies on Friday, March 6.Pi Day — a day to celebrate one of the most well-known principles in mathematics — may fall during spring break, but the Penn State Behrend Math Club still found a way to celebrate it.

Pi Day — a day to celebrate one of the most well-known principles in mathematics — may fall during spring break, but the Penn State Behrend Math Club still found a way to celebrate it.

“I’ve always wished we could do something to celebrate Pi Day here at Behrend, but the date always fell during spring break,” said Lisa Giancola, a junior mathematics major and president of the Math Club.

Penn State Behrend students raised more than $46,000 for the 2015 IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, which ended Feb. 22. Two students – Alexandra Laffey, a sophomore from Sewickley, and Mackenzie Yoho, a sophomore from Ellwood City – danced in the two-day event, which raised more than $13 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

Black School of Business provides data, analysis to Erie Vital Signs project.

The Economic Research Institute of Erie, a research center of the Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend, has partnered with the Erie Community Foundation to provide data and analysis for Erie Vital Signs, a benchmarking program that tracks the region’s performance in seven key areas.

The move sharpens the program’s local focus. The analysis previously had been done at the University of Pittsburgh.
