Students who leave college before completing their first academic year often decide to do so during the first six weeks of the semester. To better support those students, Penn State Behrend has developed the “Six Weeks Initiative” — a coordinated network of faculty members, support staff and campus resource offices that can provide additional support.
Penn State Behrend has presented the Behrend Medallion, the college’s highest award, to Nancy Anderson, vice president and chief information officer for GE. She leads the company’s Digital Technology organization, with infrastructure and applications around the world.

Penn State University Health Services (UHS) is encouraging students to protect themselves against monkeypox in light of cases in Pennsylvania and nationally. Monkeypox is a viral infection primarily spread through prolonged close contact. It is not a sexually transmitted infection (STI), and anybody can be at risk, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
Students in Penn State Behrend’s "College for Kids" program build rockets, robots and miniature roller coasters. This year, they also created a summer-camp newspaper. “I wanted to see how it felt to document people and what they were doing,” said student participant Elliott Fensmire.
For his first novel, “The Substance of Things Hoped For,” Tom Noyes, a professor of creative writing and English at Penn State Behrend, looked to an ancestor, John Humphry Noyes, a “Bible Communist” who created a New York community based on group marriage and mutual criticism.
Two business leaders with experience in accounting and tax consulting will join the executive in residence program at Penn State Behrend’s Black School of Business for the 2022-23 academic year. Five other executives have renewed their commitments to the program.

Registration is now open for the inaugural Women’s Engagement Council’s Run for Women 5K at Penn State Behrend. The run and walk will be held Sunday, Aug. 28, and will conclude with a post-race party with free Berkey Creamery ice cream.
Penn State students visited Washington, D.C. the weekend of April 1-3 as part of a trip planned by the Global Engagement Team within Penn State Global. The student group was a diverse mixture of students from across the commonwealth, with 30 domestic students and 145 international students representing 31 countries.
