A $250,000 endowment created by Larry and Charlotte Neizmik will create scholarships for students in the economics program at Penn State Behrend. Larry Neizmik earned an MBA at Behrend and teaches in the economics program.
The Penn State Board of Trustees Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning advanced a proposal to rename Penn State Behrend’s Federal House, where a major renovation and expansion project is creating a new home for the Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Community Outreach, Research and Evaluation.
With an extra year of NCAA eligibility, several Penn State Behrend student-athletes are back in competition – this time as graduate students. “It gave them a chance to lead,” said Brian Streeter, senior director of athletics.
The Kotchegna Dance Company will perform high-energy drum-and-dance numbers as part of the Rhythms of Life Series at Penn State Behrend. The Feb. 16 performance, which begins at noon in Bruno’s Café, is free and open to the public.
Penn State Behrend runners posted eight personal-best times at the Reggie Thomas Collegiate Classic at Tiffin University on Feb. 12. Samuel Hetrick, a sophomore from New Bethlehem, won the 60-meter sprint. Olivia Nola, a freshman from Erie, won the 3,000-meter race.
The LiveOn Student Success Grant provides need-based recipients at Penn State approximately $12,000 across four years to help bridge the cost of campus room and board.

The Penn State Behrend men’s volleyball team competed in nonconference tri-matches Feb. 5-6, winning four times without dropping a set. The team is now 5-4.
A new series of on-campus and online events will offer prospective graduate students information about Penn State Behrend’s five master’s degree programs, which include courses in Erie and at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Township.
