“A Muse of Fire,” this year’s spring concert from Penn State Behrend’s Chamber Singers and Concert Choir, will be held April 23 at First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, located at 250 W. 7th Street in Erie. The program will feature a rendition of “Requiem,” the seven-movement piece that is among the best-known works of composer Gabriel Fauré.

The ballad of Francis Marion Brazier ends badly: Brazier, the great-great-great grandfather of the actress Jessica Biel, was killed while attempting to escape a Civil War prison. Joseph Beilein, an assistant professor of history at Penn State Behrend, helped tell the story on a recent episode of TLC's "Who Do You Think You Are?"
Seun Babalola, a sophomore political science major at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, collected more than 3,000 bottles and raised $308 to assist the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. The bottles will be delivered in early April to Mission of Hope, a church and food bank in the Flint area.
Kyle L. Peck, professor of education in the College of Education and research fellow, co-director for the Center for Online Innovation in Learning; and Andy Herrera, director of educational equity and diversity programs at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College; are recipients of the 2017 W. LaMarr Kopp International Achievement Award.
