Three student teams will continue their work using artificial intelligence to make a positive impact in the world with $25,000 awarded to them for a minimum viable product created during the 2023 Nittany AI Challenge. The students were recognized during the AI for Good Expo, an event hosted by the Nittany AI Alliance.
Penn State Behrend runners won the top six spots in the men’s race at the Penn State Behrend Invitational. The women’s team placed three runners in the top 10.
Penn State Behrend renovated the lobby of Perry Hall to create a competitive esports center, a high-tech computer hub equipped with 28 Alienware PC stations. Teams compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
Penn State Behrend will offer a series of on-campus and online information sessions for students who want to know more about the college’s master’s degree programs. Sessions begin Sept. 14.

The Yahn Planetarium at Penn State Behrend will provide 50,000 pairs of eclipse glasses — enough for every K-12 student in Erie, Crawford and Warren counties — in advance of the April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse.
The Penn State Behrend women’s volleyball team opened its 2023 season with three wins at the Morrisville Tournament. Hannah Phillips, a senior from Pittsburgh, led the team with 40 kills, 37 digs and two aces across the three matches.
The 2023-24 season of Music at Noon: The Logan Series at Penn State Behrend will use a new, $1 million endowment to extend its commitment to professional chamber music programming, with concerts in Behrend’s McGarvey Commons and artist residencies at Erie’s Diehl Elementary School.
