The lab card access coordinator ensures assures that faculty, staff, and students requesting lab access have completed all the necessary documentation and laboratory safety training necessary to ensure the student’s safety.
Responsibilities of the position are to:
- Answer any questions that the students may have concerning access to the lab.
- Determine the access level granted: Card Access, Lab Access, or Access Denied.
- Verify the correct lab coordinators/safety officers have approved the Lab Access Request Form; inform the lab coordinator which students have been approved for access, and at what level.
- Document, for each lab, which students have been granted access for which equipment.
Documents will be saved in the SOE Safety Administration Teams folder with the following conditions:
- Initial EHS training, digitally stored, in separate folder.
- Lab Access Request Forms and current academic year trainings, digitally stored, in separate files of each lab, this may include a copy of the initial EHS training (if it was completed during that academic year)
- Lab Access Request Forms/Trainings will also be saved by semester.
- Student was approved access for fall.
- File in the fall folder under that specific lab.
- Student was approved access for fall/spring.
- File in the fall and spring folders under that specific lab.
- Student was approved access for the Full Academic Year.
- File in the fall, spring, and summer folders under that specific lab.
- Student was approved access for fall.
- No student is permitted lab/card access past the summer semester of the current academic year, regardless of approvals/signatures. All Access must be renewed (new forms and trainings) each fall semester.
- Routinely monitor the labs for compliance. Ensure Faculty and Staff have access to the student Lab Access Files.
- Remove all students from clearances at the end of every semester. Add ONLY the students with prior approval back to clearances.
- Run iTwo reports for CAD, Electrical, Senior Design, Plastics, AMIC 114, and GAME 250. Send bulk uploads to University Police and Public Safety.
- CAD - ER SOE-Student SP25_CAD- Always CLR
- Electrical - ER SOE-Student SP25_ECE/ECET CLR
- Senior Design - ER SOE-Student SP25_Senior Design - Always CLR
- Plastics - ER SOE-Student SP25_PLET - Always CLR
- AMIC 114 - ER SOE-Student SP25_AMIC 114 - Always CLR
- GAME 250 – (Check to see where this class is being held, Put in Standard CLR for that room)
- Collect and document all faculty/staff trainings, ensuring all faculty/staff who teach in restricted labs only have Card Access if they have submitted their yearly trainings. (All trainings are due in August)
- Refer to Faculty Lab Access for approved access per faculty
- Verify with lab coordinator/safety officer for additional approval requests and document on Faculty Lab Access if approved
- Routinely monitor the labs for compliance.
