Why hire a Penn State Behrend Management Information Systems graduate?
Students pursuing Penn State Behrend’s Management Information Systems (MIS) degree become the professionals that organizations rely on to collect, store, organize, extract, analyze, and interpret their valuable business data. Companies use this data to meet strategic goals and increase profitability, making our graduates prized members of any performance team. Behrend’s MIS students choose one of two tracks, Business Systems Analyst or Data Analyst, both of which emphasize application of information tools to organizational problem-solving. Students also have the option of getting a minor or double major in another academic area such as Accounting, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Finance, Project and Supply Chain Management, or Marketing.
More than Just a Degree
Penn State Behrend is unique among colleges in offering its students the opportunity to pursue two different certifications in enterprise resource planning (ERP)—with SAP and with Oracle. Behrend also offers certification in Mendix, a low-code application development platform. Students participate in numerous projects within their MIS coursework to gain experience with real-world applications.
Through Partnership Erie, an outreach program of the Black School of Business, students also receive hands-on experience beyond the classroom, creating fresh, exciting websites for area not-for-profit organizations.
