Course Outline
Risk is a universal concept that spans across all industries and is an integral part of project management at a holistic level. Throughout the program, students will delve into
- Creating and maintaining a risk management plan
- Interpreting the need to have stakeholders and project team members understand key concepts while prioritizing project risk and promoting risk ownership
- Identifying, analyzing, responding to, and mitigating risk
- Creating and managing a risk register
- Recognizing and implementing policies, processes, and procedures for risk assessment and planning
- Demonstrating abilities to use quantitative and qualitative tools and techniques
- Proving comprehensive risk management knowledge and skills in real-time
All classes are taught by practicing professionals, ensuring you’ll learn important, hands-on lessons.
A digital badge will be awarded upon completion. Badges can be digitally displayed anywhere to recognize attaining a new level of knowledge.
This program will also assist with preparing students for the Project Management Institute Certified Risk Management Professionals (PMI-RMP®).
The Pennsylvania State University is a Project Management Institute (PMI)® Authorized Training Partner (A.T.P.), committed to enhancing the ongoing professional development of both current and future PMI Members, PMI-certified Project Management Professionals (PMP)®, and other project management stakeholders. We also offer Project Management Supplemental topics.
Scope and Sequence
Each course is approved by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to receive one Professional Development Unit (PDU) for each contact hour (21 PDUs per course). PDUs are necessary for individuals who wish to apply to and take the Project Management Professional (PMP) Exam.
A certificate is awarded upon completion of the three required courses. Courses MUST be taken in sequence and CANNOT be taken concurrently.
Who Should Attend
This program is designed for people who want to learn more about the project management and project risk fields, including those who may already be managing projects, leading project teams, or on the path to becoming a project manager.
Our students work in a variety of fields, including engineering, research and development, data processing, construction, facilities management, manufacturing, corporate planning, finance, and marketing.
Objectives
The program is a structured sequence of courses that prepare you for a career in project management and risk management. You’ll be able to apply project management practices such as identifying project risks and analyzing and monitoring them in a way that is deemed measurable.
Upon completion of the certificate, you will have earned 63 educational PDUs you can put towards either achieving the (PMP) Project Management Professional credential through the Project Management Institute, or to keep your PMI credential up to date.
Continuing Education Units
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded based on a standard of one unit per ten (10) hours of classroom contact.
