Register for Leveraging AI in Project Management

This new offering launches as part of Penn State's ongoing initiative to explore innovative, AI‑driven professional development programs. This course introduces project managers to emerging AI tools and methods that are reshaping how modern projects are planned, executed, and delivered.

Because the field is evolving quickly, course content focuses on high‑impact concepts and adaptable skills rather than rigid technical detail. Students will explore real‑world use cases, hands‑on exercises, and current AI applications that can be immediately brought back to their teams and organizations.

Walk away with a clearer understanding of where AI fits within the project management landscape and how to use it responsibly, ethically, and effectively.

AI in Project Management Course Objectives

Students will learn to:

  • Understand how AI technologies can streamline project workflows, improve forecasting, and support data‑driven planning.
  • Recognize ethical, governance, and transparency considerations when introducing AI into project environments.
  • Apply AI‑supported approaches to planning, communication, risk assessment, and performance monitoring.
  • Evaluate common AI‑powered tools and determine which solutions best fit various project needs.
  • Identify risks, limitations, and biases associated with AI use and apply strategies for balanced human‑AI collaboration.
  • Build foundational knowledge of core AI concepts—such as machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics—as they relate to project work.

Who Should Participate in Leveraging AI in Project Management

This course is ideal for project managers, team leads, and professionals in technology, operations, engineering, business, or analytics who want to integrate modern AI tools into their workflows. It also benefits organizations preparing staff to guide responsible AI adoption, early‑career project managers or career‑changers building future‑ready skills, and anyone interested in understanding AI’s practical role in project environments while strengthening their digital fluency.

Note: The University reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances.
