Penn State Behrend’s John Roth honored with Atherton Award

John Roth, professor of engineering at Penn State Behrend, was recently recognized with a 2019 George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching. Named for the University’s seventh president, this university-wide award is presented annually to faculty members who have devoted substantial effort to and developed a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching.

Math Options Career Day explores science of slime

A total of 215 seventh-and eighth-grade girls from 32 school districts attended Math Options Career Day, held May 7 at Penn State Behrend. The daylong program, now in its 23rd year, is designed to introduce young girls to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics — fields that generally are dominated by men.
