The Penn State Behrend women’s track and field team won the Eastern College Athletic Conference championship for the first time in program history on March 3. Behrend runners set records in the mile run and the 4x400 relay.
Applications are being accepted for a new 33-credit master of professional studies in enterprise architecture and business transformation degree. Developed by the College of Information Sciences and Technology in collaboration with the Smeal College of Business, the degree will be offered exclusively online through Penn State World Campus. Courses will begin in fall 2018.
The Penn State Behrend men’s basketball team lost to La Roche in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship game. The women’s team lost to Hilbert in the semifinals.
Penn State Erie, The Behrend College political science alumnus Senator Guy L. Reschenthaler, 2004, will be one of 10 recipients of the Penn State Alumni Association’s 2018 Alumni Achievement Award.
“A Musical Travelogue,” will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the McGarvey Commons of Penn State Behrend’s Reed Union Building. The highlight of the program will be “Presque Isle,” a piece that is based on Erie’s picturesque peninsula, written for the Concert Band by composer and pianist Beata Moon.
Still in its alpha test stage, Professor Nittany is a question-answering chatbot designed to help students with World Campus advising questions. The concept was first developed by Meng Su, associate professor of computer science and software engineering, and a team of students at Penn State Behrend.
The Penn State Alumni Association will honor 10 prominent young alumni at the Alumni Achievement Awards on March 23. Alumni Achievement Award recipients are nominated by an academic college or campus and invited by the president of the University to return to Penn State to share their expertise with students and the University community. Honorees demonstrate to students that Penn State alumni succeed in exceptional fashion at an early age.
The Penn State Behrend men’s swimming and diving team won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championships by a margin of 340 points. The Lions set 10 records on the final day of competition. The women’s team placed second.
Bob Light, former associate dean for research and outreach and chief operating officer at Penn State Behrend, died Feb. 13 at age 64. "There is virtually no aspect of the college or our neighboring community where his impact was not felt," Chancellor Ralph Ford said.
