Scott McKenzie, an assistant professor of geology and paleontology director at Mercyhurst University, will discuss both local craters and meteorites on Thursday, Feb. 1, when Open House Nights in Astronomy returns to Penn State Behrend.
Penn State students, faculty and staff are invited to compete for $100,000 in funding during the Nittany AI Challenge. The challenge, sponsored by the Penn State EdTech Network, will give participating teams the opportunity to explore artificial intelligence in higher education to improve the student experience at Penn State, solve real-world problems at the University, and generate startup ideas. The deadline for idea submissions is Jan. 29.

Martha and Bill Hilbert recently affirmed their commitment to music education and the creative arts by making a $300,000 gift to the Young People’s Chorus (YPC) of Erie, a youth outreach program of the School of Humanities at Penn State Behrend. The gift will allow YPC Erie to provide tuition assistance to more students and help cover the cost of other program needs, such as chorister uniforms, sheet music, instruments and other supplies.
