The Penn State Behrend theater program will stage “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” in an outdoor and socially distanced setting April 22-25. “This is the next step in pandemic theater,” the show’s director, Emily Cassano, said. “We’re outdoors and making the best of it.”
Each year, Penn State recognizes outstanding faculty and staff with annual awards in teaching and excellence. These awards highlight many of the faculty and staff who go above and beyond.
Ozgun Demirag, associate professor in the project and supply chain management department at the Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend, and Susan Sanders, lead adviser in the College of Health and Human Development; have been selected to receive the 2021 Penn State Excellence in Advising Award.
The raw numbers are staggering: nearly 87,000 courses have been added to the Credit Transfer Tool since 2016. More than 90% of reviewed courses have some type of equivalency at Penn State, and over 50% have a direct equivalency to a Penn State course. Among the 200-plus faculty reviewers, three Penn State professors have completed nearly 20,000 of the transfer course reviews.
The Sustainability Institute and Student Sustainability Advisory Council recently honored six Penn State students for their leadership and commitment to sustainability throughout their time at Penn State.
The Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend will feature more than a dozen student projects, as well as student-led research and case studies, at the inaugural Business Showcase on Monday, April 26.
The Penn State Behrend softball team swept Alfred State on April 20, winning 9-1 and 14-1. Cami McNany, a sophomore from Elmenton, batted 3-for-3 in the opener, earning a season-high six RBIs. In the second game, she was 3-for-4, with five RBIs.
Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, the pediatrician who exposed the Flint water crisis, discussed her work as a public-health advocate during an April 13 Speaker Series program at Penn State Behrend.
