Music Class Scholarship Availability
Each year, College for Kids may offer music scholarships. The scholarships are not guaranteed every summer and are dependent on music-related courses being instructed during a specific season.
- If music-related courses are being instructed in a specific College for Kids season, a limited number of scholarships will be available for specific music courses.
- If multiple music classes are being taught during the program, the scholarships may be applied to one specific course or a variety of courses, in an attempt to spread the funds to multiple areas of the subject.
These scholarships are available because of ongoing donations made in memory of Michael Sider, the son of Sharron Zimmerman, a former Behrend staff member. Mike (pictured center, on drums) was tragically killed in an accident in May 2010. He was an excellent musician who enjoyed teaching music to kids. His memory is being honored in this way to spread Mike's enthusiasm for music to some of the young people attending College for Kids.
Scholarships are awarded based on financial need. If you would like to see if your child qualifies, make a donation to this scholarship fund, or create another scholarship opportunity for College for Kids participants, please contact Jeffery Barber, College for Kids director, at [email protected] for more information.
