Beginning Model Rocketry

Using many aspects of STEM, participants in Beginning model Rocketry will build and launch their own reusable rocket. They will construct a launch pad with an electrical ignition system. Students will assemble and paint a rocket to be launched on the final day of class. Parents and siblings are welcome to join and view their success.

Please be advised that this course requires students to follow directions, be alert, and listen to the instructors at all times. In this course, students will work through the basics of forensic investigations. Basic ideas would be crime scene analysis, fingerprinting, handwriting analysis, serology, particle analysis, ballistics and any other topics that we could get through during our week of camp involving forensics and crime scene investigations.

Future marine biologists welcome! In this course, we will investigate the ocean and some of the life it supports. Student's scientific knowledge of ocean habitats will be deepened through a variety of activities as they embark on a trip to new destinations. In addition to learning new scientific concepts, students will work in teams and participate in a variety of hands-on learning opportunities and art projects as they explore the amazing world of life under the sea. Students will learn about various aquatic life forms. They will create several artistic representations of various aquatic life forms and be introduced to new vocabulary and life science concepts.

Students in this course will learn about cryptids (sasquatch, bunyip, jackelope, etc.) from all over the world, exploring different geographical regions and cultures, as well as the biology of the cryptids that exist in those regions/cultures. By the end of the course, students will develop and document their own cryptid in a journal of their expedition to discover their legendary cryptid and its habitat.

Monday we will go underwater to investigate many types of fish, creating soft sock sculptures. Tuesday we will fly in the sky to identify the birds we see around us and create a free-standing bird from paper and collage materials. Wednesday we will dig in the garden with bugs and snakes making a movable creature out of paper. Thursday is all about jaws and teeth, building wearable art to reflect our favorite animal's features. Friday we will think about our favorite pets, using pencil and air-dry clay to create them.

Welcome to a world of new aged photography! In this course, students will develop their capabilities to capture the perfect image on today's devices! Students will take pictures with a cell phone around the campus. They will learn how to frame the picture before they take it on their device and use the filters on the phone/tablet to capture the most amazing images. Afterwards, students will be able to print the pictures out and matte them into their own photographic collage of the time they spent at College For Kids this summer.

Students will watch demonstrations of the different types of chemical reactions, build edible atoms, and make several scientific solutions and molecules! Color Me Happy

Ages 6-8
During his class students will learn the basics of creating great watercolors. Then we'll step it up and combine colored pencils with it, exploring mixed media. So painting animals, people, landscapes, and beyond! On Friday, the class will host a semi-formal art show for the parents/guardians to attend and view the class's hard work!
Cryptozoology
Afternoons, July 29-August 2
Ages 10-14
Students in this course will learn about cryptids (sasquatch, bunyip, jackelope, etc.) from all over the world, exploring different geographical regions and cultures, as well as the biology of the cryptids that exist in those regions/cultures. By the end of the course, students will develop and document their own cryptid in a journal of their expedition to discover their legendary cryptid and its habitat.
Introduction to Watercolors
Afternoons, July 29-August 2
Ages 6-10
Bring out the inner artist within you! During this week-long course, students will be introduced to the basics of watercolor paint! This class will help students build their skills by teaching beginner techniques that will be implemented in both abstract and landscape projects throughout the week. Along with watercolor basics, students will be introduced to other artistic topics and skills such as color theory, composition, and critiques.
Photography 101
Afternoons, July 29-August 2
Ages 10-14
Welcome to a world of new aged photography! In this course, students will develop their capabilities to capture the perfect image on today's devices! Students will take pictures with a cell phone around the campus. They will learn how to frame the picture before they take it on their device and use the filters on the phone/tablet to capture the most amazing images. Afterwards, students will be able to print the pictures out and matte them into their own photographic collage of the time they spent at College For Kids this summer.

Reduce Reuse Recycle

Join us as we learn the importance of minimizing the amount of waste we have and what we can create with the things we have left! In this course, we will turn trash to treasure and create several useful tools and items out of everyday waste and recyclable things! We only have one Earth. Let's learn to cherish and protect it for future generations!
