Each year, Penn State Behrend invites Girl Scouts to the college for Girl Scout STEM Badge Day, a fun-filled day of activities in science, technology, engineering, and math. The program is offered with Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania, the regional council that serves over 20,000 girl members in partnership with over 10,000 adult members throughout 27 counties.
Girls can sign up to earn two STEM-related badges during morning and afternoon badge sessions. Workshops are presented by faculty members and college students in a variety of areas. The program shows Girl Scouts what it is like to be in a STEM field through hands-on activities that test their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Registration includes the activities, badges, and lunch on campus. Scouts also will have the opportunity to tour the Penn State Behrend campus and engineering building, including many of the labs.
