Morning Sessions (9:00 a.m.–noon)

Gardening 101 New course

Dates: July 13–17
Time: 9:00 a.m.–noon
Instructor: Lauren Galle-Boyko
Ages: 6–10
Cost: $125

Do you love the outdoors? Are you an aspiring plant parent ready for your own plants to tend? Welcome to Gardening 101! In this course we will explore nature, learn about photosynthesis and the plant cycle, plant our own plants, and learn how to care for them! This weeklong class will be taught outside, weather permitting, and will allow the students to become one with nature. Please be advised, the students may get dirty, so try to wear clothes that can soak up the dirt and mud! Sunscreen is advised, because we will be soaking up the summer sun! Who is ready to spend a week learning about nature and creating our own little garden to take home and love for many years to come!

Dino Digs!

Dates: July 13–17
Time: 9:00 a.m.–noon
Instructor: Lauren Konkol
Ages: 6–10
Cost: $125

Let’s travel back in time to a prehistoric era filled with volcanos, cavemen, and DINOSAURS. In a class filled with our prehistoric friends, students will learn about the different types of dinosaurs, the qualities and traits, as well as what happened to the dinosaur population, and how paleontologists recover dinosaur bones, fossils, and other evidence supporting this scientific era. Get ready for a week of adventure! Who’s ready to learn about the dinosaurs and discover some amazing prehistoric artifacts!

Dance 101 New course

Dates: July 13–17
Time: 9:00 a.m.–noon
Instructor: Alicea Chludzinski
Ages: 6–10
Cost: $125

Interested in dance but unsure where to start or which style suits you best? Dance 101 is the perfect class to find out! Each day, we’ll explore a different dance style, beginning with the history of jazz dance and the lively rhythms of jazz music. Next, we’ll dive into ballet, answering the classic question: 'How do ballerinas stand on their tiptoes?' We'll also explore hip-hop, discovering its origins and the culture behind the dance. Finally, we’ll express emotion through lyrical dance and learn how Broadway stars can sing and dance simultaneously. In each class, we’ll not only cover the history and influential figures of each style, but also experience the dances firsthand with warm-ups, stretching, basic steps, and short routines. While dance attire (leotards, tights, ballet slippers, jazz shoes, or dance paws) is welcome, it's not required. Students can also wear comfortable athletic clothes with socks and sneakers. Get ready for a week filled with excitement, movement, and discovery!

Designing Dreams

Dates: July 13–17

If you like to draw and create works of art with pencils and colored pencils; this is the class for you! Students will broaden their artistic skills and knowledge in this little kid-oriented beginner-style art class. Our mission this week will be to help you create more realistic forms of art, while having fun and learning to become a better drawer!

*Due to an increase in the cost of art supplies and materials for this course, a $10 fee has been added to the class to cover the cost of items the students will use during the program.

Bookbinding Basics! New course

Dates: July 13–17
Time: 9:00 a.m.–noon
Instructor: Megan Jell
Ages: 8–12
Cost: $135

This course takes the art of designing a novel to the next level! Spend a week learning how to not only write and illustrate stories, but also how to fold, bind, and sew your own paperback books! In addition to writing their own story, students will learn how to create their own accordion fold books, pop-ups, marble paper, altered books, and stitched books during our five days together. Perfect for the advanced reader or artist who wants to learn techniques for bookbinding, this class is centered reading and writing, as well as material exploration and creative problem solving for any student.

The Author’s Stitch

Dates: July 13–17
Time: 9:00 a.m.–noon
Instructor: Jessie Fuller

Welcome to Author's Stitch! A classroom where students will write, create, and design their own book! During this course, students will learn about writing and illustrating a story of their own. Each day, students will hear short stories, learn about the processes it takes to develop a story, and then add to their very own story book! Come along for the ride and learn how to concoct a story of your own! We welcome students who can read and write to join this course and develop a magical tale of their own!

An Introduction to Magic New course

Dates: July 13–17
Time: 9:00 a.m.–noon
Instructor: Joseph Hohman
Ages: 8–12
Cost: $125

Harry Potter may have taken a year off this summer, but the magic still lives on at College for Kids! This course will emphasize beginner, easy-to-do magic. It will still require practice and rehearsal, but it will depend less on manual dexterity and more on principles of timing, cover, and misdirection. Detailed and illustrated notes will be provided, as well as necessary materials to conduct several magic tricks outside of class. Throughout the course we will learn card tricks and coin tricks, as well as rope magic, mathematical magic, and pocket magic, too! Come spend a week learning some new tricks to impress your friends!

A World at War…

Dates: July 13–17
Time: 9:00 a.m.–noon
Instructor: Dan Quiggle
Ages: 10–14
Cost: $125

Do you like history? Are you interested in learning more about World War II? This is the course for you! In this course, we will cover one of the most important periods in modern American history. Be prepared to discuss topics such as Pearl Harbor, the use of atomic bombs, concentration camps, and the rise and fall of Germany’s Nazi Party. This class is based on student-led discussion and interests, so we will dive deeper into the topics students want to explore.

Beginning Ukulele

Dates: July 13–17
Time: 9:00 a.m.–noon
Instructor: Bethany Sulecki
Ages: 10–14
Cost: $125

Have you ever wanted to accompany yourself to your favorite songs or learn how to play an instrument? Not sure if a string instrument is your style? Now is your chance to find out! In this course, students will learn about the history of the ukulele, instrument maintenance and care, learn chords to play a variety of songs, write their own songs, and much more! No prior experience is necessary. This course offers a limited amount of availability and will sell out! Please plan accordingly!

Welcome to an art class where anything goes! Use your inventive minds to create abstract works of art! We will use paper, wire, recyclable items, and glass to create formidable sculpture of your child's dreams. Some projects will use the wind to move, some will use water to move, and some will just be freestanding creations!

The Sleight of Hand! New course

Welcome to a course designed to introduce you to the captivating world of sleight of hand magic with cards! In this week-long session, students will learn foundational techniques such as card controls, false cuts, false shuffles, and a variety of impressive magic tricks, all while mastering the art of audience interaction. The course will also explore the science behind trickery and laughter, with a special focus on the psychology of misdirection and timing. Along with the essential sleights, students will be taught several classic, show-stopping tricks. Detailed, illustrated notes will be provided by the instructor, ensuring students leave with a solid understanding of card magic and a few dazzling tricks to wow family and friends!

Introduction to Robotics

Dates: July 13–17

Come explore the fascinating world of robotics, where robots are found everywhere—from toys and industrial machines to those used in space exploration. Discover how the science behind these incredible creations impacts your everyday life. Through hands-on experimentation and design, you will build robots using the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime Set, Jitter Bot, MiP, Edison, and more to tackle exciting projects!

Star Wars and the Roman Empire

Welcome to a world where sci-fi meets history! In this course we will examine how the creator of Star Wars was a huge history buff, and due to that, he borrowed some of the main concepts of his movies from the pages within a history textbook. Be prepared to unravel history and blow your minds! This course shows you how history tends to repeat itself while having fun and learning! It is the perfect course for any Star Wars fan or history nerd!

From Page to Stage!

Dates: July 13–17
Time: 1:00–4:00 p.m.

How do musicals make their way from the page to the stage? How do costume and set designers create the world of the play? What does it take to learn a song and a dance? These are some of the questions that we will dive into while we create our own, five-minute play or musical within 5 days! Come join in on the fun and learn how to break down all of the different elements behind theater performances and let your creative talents shine! This course offers a limited amount of availability and will sell out! Please plan accordingly!
