When Taylor May first arrived at Penn State Behrend, he had never sung in a formal choir. The senior digital media, arts, and technology major now says that joining the Behrend Concert Choir ended up being one of the best decisions he has ever made.
Julie Fowlis will perform songs from both Disney's “Brave” and her most recent album, “Alterum,” when she visits Penn State Behrend on Oct. 2 as part of Music at Noon: The Logan Series.
This past year, Vertna Bradley, an assistant teaching professor of film studies at Penn State Behrend, created the SPLICE Film Fest, an international film and video art festival showcasing short films ranging in length of at least 1 minute to no more than 10 minutes. Held this past summer at the Erie Movie House, the inaugural SPLICE Film Fest received more than 400 entries from 55 different countries.

The women’s soccer team at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, defeated Baldwin Wallace for the first time since 2014, earning a spot in the final at the Herb Lauffer Memorial Soccer Tournament. The Behrend men’s team also was in action last week, as were the college’s volleyball, golf, tennis, cross-country and water polo teams.

Alumna Jen Town will read from her poetry collection, “The Light of What Comes After,” on Thursday, Sept. 20, when she visits Penn State Behrend as part of the college’s Creative Writers Reading Series. Her 6 p.m. reading and the reception preceding it are free and open to the public. Both events will be held in the Larry and Kathryn Smith Chapel.
