Held Dec. 11 at Penn State Behrend, the 13th annual PLASTCAR competition is the culmination of a semester-long project between Rolling Ridge and Diehl elementary school fifth- and sixth-graders and students from Behrend’s Plastics Engineering Technology and Psychology programs.
Penn State Behrend students Ryan Bauer and Logan Luzier recently took first place in the Blow Molded Parts Competition at the 34th annual Blow Molding Conference, held earlier this semester in Pittsburgh. For the project, the two re-designed how a calf hutch could be molded and manufactured through blow molding.
The National Science Foundation will fund a two-year, $200,000 study of group dynamics and collaborative problem-solving in simulated manufacturing environments at Penn State Behrend. Faculty members from two schools at the college will oversee the research.
